The New Gerakan Chief?

Guess what? During the last election campaign period, Gerakan Acting President Dr Koh Tsu Koon was coy when asked to debate on issues with the Opposition members. He even refused to answer an allegation made by blogger Jeff Ooi on the Motorola issue.

Now, his wife, Chui Kah Peng, has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to both Lim Guan Eng and Jeff Ooi to accept her invitation for a debate on the handling of the Persatuan Bunga Tanjung’s funds. PBT was the state organisation for wives of Barisan Nasional assemblymen and MPs and was headed by Chui.

At the last PBT annual general meeting on March 9, the day after Penang and four other states fell into Opposition hands, PBT members, the state organisation for wives of Barisan Nasional assemblymen and MPs, voted unanimously to dissolve the association.

In earlier statements, Chui said remaining funds amounting to RM590,665 were distributed to the Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers (Bakti) (RM350,000), the Bureau on Learning Difficulties-PBT centre in Seberang Prai (RM220,000) and three other charitable organisations.

Chui was upset over a remark made on Jeff's website. "We are not ‘desperate housewives’ as Jeff Ooi had alleged and we take that statement as a real insult.” Jeff also drew a similarity between PBT and Balkis.

It is interesting to note that Chui is now at the forefront and it will be more interesting if Jeff or Lim decides to take up the challenge. Perhaps, Gerakan has found a new Penang chief since Secretary General Chia Kwang Chye, as usual, is still non committal to take over the post. Chui has shown more character than Chia, maybe she should go for the post instead. It will be a Malaysian "Bill-Hillary" tag team to watch.

I am not sure whether it is a wise move for YBs Lim & Jeff to spare their precious time for the debate. Having said that, I am waiting eagerly for the Round 1 debate to take place. Who is going to be KO'ed?

Its a waste of time to have this debate. The public opinion is that there is hanky panky involving large sums of money. Like the GE12, people have closed our ears to their reasons .. we just want PBT and Balkis to come clean & do the right thing.

Be a man ( Wo-man)

Was Puan Chui Kah Peng's outburst a reaction of guilt that some hanky panky was committed by PBT? And why is PBT so anxious to transfer its funds to Bakti, like what Balkis did in Selangor? Puan Chui Kah Peng is also silent on why PBT chose to dissolve itself after BN lost in Penang on 8 Mar. Puan Chui Kah Peng should be clear that PBT is a Penang govt outfit, NOT a BN outfit which chose to dissolve itself when BN lost power. It would be interesting to hear what Jeff Ooi has to say when he returns from his leave

I don't care for what Jeff Ooi says anymore when he practices double standards!

I tried to comment on his blog about the PBT issue and he blocked my comment.

So much for his being the champion of free speech. He practices censorship!

All I did was question his intent on the issue. No foul language was used, not even defending Puan Sri Chui but rather pointing out that they way he worded his original post was more of an 'accusation' than 'seeking clarification'.
