Constrasting Reactions

Rosmah Mansor, the wife of Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, will not sue Malaysia Today editor Raja Petra Kamaruddin for alleging her involvement in the murder of Mongolian Altantuya Shaariibuu.

“I have nothing to say. I have given my statement to the police and that’s it,” she said.

Asked if she would sue Raja Petra for defamation, she said she did not want to address unnecessary issues because she had other bigger things to attend to for the people and for the nation.

Asked why she would not address such a serious allegation, she said it did not matter.
“If you are innocent, what is there for you to address? I am not a politician and I am not running for any post. I’m just the wife of a politician,” she said Tuesday during the Asia-Pacific Conference on Children’s Book Publishing.

I am quite surprised by her reactions. If she wants to attend to bigger things, this is it. As an important personality in the country, she could help us by bringing culprits who spread lies and malices to book and help to ensure that such actions will not be repeated again.

RPK has made damning allegations, through a statutory declaration, against Rosmah and this action must not be left off the hook if she is convinced of her innocence.

Rosmah said she is not a politician but a wife of a politician. What is the difference? If the allegations do not hurt her image personally, she should consider the possible damage on Najib's political credibility.

Based on my observation, it is BEST for Rosmah to sue RPK for malice and defamation. Her reactions may not ensure that there will be no further allegations against her. If this is not serious enough - accusing her of playing a part in the murder - what is?

Meanwhile, PKR adviser Anwar Ibrahim has filed a suit against his former aide for lodging an allegedly malicious false report against him and defaming him.

He also lodged a police report against police chief Musa Hassan and attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail for allegedly fabricating evidence in his trials 10 years ago.

Funny that Anwar has lodged a police report against the chief of police and yet he does not trust the police. Hence, I do not think he is expecting any action against the IGP and AG. He is merely doing it for the record.

A colleague told me she received an email from a researcher from Germany asking what kind of country she is living in.

We are going to be a butt of joke internationally. I suggest that we take those culprits to task once we get down to the bottom of these two high profile cases.

Rosmah was sooooooooo upset when RPK highlighted this issue a few months ago. But now she chooses to avoid taking action. Why is that so? Only she knows the truth :)
