Oppose and Yet Not Oppose

MCA Youth leader and Health Minister Liow Tiong Lai should really make up his mind on the use of ISA. He opposes the use of ISA against reporter Tan Hoon Cheng but was dilly dally when asked about its use against both Raja Petra and Teresa Kok.

What is Liow's stand on ISA? Is he willing to oppose the use of ISA only if he feels it is politically safe to do so. If he opposes the use of draconian law against a commoner or Malaysian, then he should learn to be fair and impartial like his colleague, Zaid Ibrahim.

Zaid has threatened to resign if the government continues to use the Internal Security Act, which allows detention without trial, against political dissidents.

It is either you oppose the use of ISA or you don't. Liow should not be selective in his stand. It is NOT OK to use it on both RPK and Teresa Kok.

I hope more BN leaders will oppose the use of ISA as a tool to silence political opponents.

OoH. Minister Liow is cared of losing his ministership. Did you see Koh Tsu Koon dancing around this issue?

Pathetic bottom crawling invertebrate.

Tsu Koon is better than Liow. At least he asked for RPK to be charged in court.

Other than this, I am equally confused on what he stands for since he is still adamant of being with the racist party. He even said Gerakan and UMNO Penang squabbles are between siblings. He must be out of his mind to think that Ahmad Ismail is feeling the same way.

Tsu Koon must have been infected by the mudah lupa syndrome fr Dr M

I do not quite trust Liow. Reportedly, he's the only MCA leader making personal attacks against DSAI during the PP by-election.

Good evening KKP,

It's not only Liow Tiong Lai alone who has selective oppose against the use of ISA. Even Ong Ka Ting oppose the use of ISA against reporter Tan but was silent with regard to RPK and Teresa Kok.

To BN with except of Zaid, oppositions are not tolerated.

Everyone take note - now that is a courageous and honourable stand.

While opponents of the ISA are at it, why not also call for the abolishment of the Printing Presses and Publications Act?

Both of these Acts are patently oppressive but are beloved of tyrannical, corrupt regimes which find these laws useful to silence whistle-blowers and critics.

Anyone can see that the use or the threat of use of these laws gives oppressive immoral regimes the freedom to engage in all kinds of illegal and corrupt practices unchallenged.

Judging by the total disinterest and extreme reluctance the government displays towards any proposal that these Acts be abolished, the rakyat can only surmise that some legislators are as ardently in love with these two Acts and as loathe to give them up as drug addicts would be in regards to opium.

When UMNO passed a 3 years suspension on Ahmad Ismail, Ong Ka Ting & Koh Tsu Koon were quick to come out to praise UMNO for the "stern action" taken, but I'd commented that they have practically urinated on Ong and Koh's heads with that kind of light punishement and I was right. Ahmad Ismail is putting an appeal on his suspension and he is organising "speaking" tours to other UMNO division across the country. And now the sick joke about protecting the news reporter by arresting her under ISA and let her slept on cement floor in a lockup cell.

And have we heard a single official statement from MCA's head Ong Ka Ting???? Sigh!

Chinese ministers can take the urination of umnoputra in great stride, indeed they are very proud of their special skill of appeasing the master. Don't be surprised about that!

Romerz,

"Datuk Zaid,

Please continue your fight from within, for the rest of us are already fighting from outside. I'm sure there are more than one of you within the corridors of power so please do your utmost to bring them on the rakyat's side rather than being mute for fear of retribution." - from your blog.

Have you been telling Koh Tsu Koon the same thing? To be an effective opposition leader in the 2-party system?

romerz said...

No Mr Khoo, I told him to get out. I only said Datuk Zaid should remain for we need a fair-minded Malay politician to effectively mind the opposition when BN is in opposition.

Please SMS to me your email add and I'll forward to you all my correspondences with KTK since 8 March.

romerz said...

sorry I forgot, I think I have your email. I'll send you now.

romerz said...

I'm mistaken after all. I don't have your email but only your hp no.

Please provide your email and I'll send you all my correspondences tomorrow.

Better still ask Dr Hsu since he gets a BCC of all my emails to KTK.

These are bankrupt politicians. Listening to them is wasting one's valuable time in life.

Concentrate on the other more important Anwar agenda.

Yeah, making all the big noise to show that they 'won' the release of Tan. MCA and Gerakan is just appeasing UMNO .. full stop.

The spineless MCA ministers showed that they still have the nose ring attached so as to be led by their UMNO masters.
No matter what, their action have ensured MCA will loose whatever goodwill that has remained since the 2008 election results.
Don't even think of winning back Penang in the next election.

The ISA is an abhorrent act which I would not wish on my worst enemy. Why not just charge them in court and bring everything out into the open. If they are found guilty than punish them by all means. What kind of justice is this where a person is incarcerated even before being found guilty. In the case of Teresa Kok it would appear from the various reports that this is a case of false allegations. So can I suppose that they arrested her to 'protect' her from the fanatics out there? Gee, why not 'protect' Khir Toyo too or the Utusan reporter for starting all the false allegations? Come on, the mosques concerned have come out to say that she is not involved in the 'azan' issue. Even the person who took up the petition in Bandar Kinrara has said the same thing. In the case of Raja Petra aren't there already a string or civil and criminal cases against him? Why not let the whole thing be resolved through the courts. In the case of the Sin Chew reporter I won't even comment because the reason given by our honourable Home Minister was so silly. Our Government has made us look stupid in the eyes of the world. Or don't they care at all? Maybe this is a case of Malaysia Boleh?

ISA three of them is because there is not a shred of evidence or credible charge to begin with, so how the 'kangaroo" court approve a trial in motion in the first place, so ISA is the best course of action... .How many judges willing to be make a fool by this administration is unknown.
