Democracy is Dead in Malaysia

Folks, there is no democracy in Malaysia. It has been confirmed in the case of Perak. I am on the side of the law, not any political party. What happened in Perak is a blatant example of culprits using coercive power to pervert real democracy.

What we have is a collusion of the executives, police and other state apparatus to rule with an iron fist.

It is sad that only Speakers from BN have real power and not others. If this is the case, our dream of having a two-party system is dead.

I would like to suggest to the BN leadership not to hold any more general elections. Just declare your party as the winner and rule forever. It is embarrassing for us claiming to be a beacon of hope and an example for other Muslim nations. Democracy is dead here. Just look at Indonesia if you want to see a working democracy.

Malaysians, what say you?

Reported in Malaysiakini:

At an emergency assembly meeting held under a tree in a car park next to the state secretariat, the Pakatan representatives passed motions to support Nizar as the menteri besar as well as to dissolve the state assembly.

Meanwhile at the Ipoh High Court, a new twist developed when judge Ridwan Ibrahim told Speaker Sivakumar's lawyers that they had no legal standing to represent the speaker, who should be represented by the state legal advisor.

This is a shame and a scam. You do not have to be a legal expert to judge for yourself whether democracy and rule of law is still alive and kicking.

"I would like to suggest to the BN leadership not tohold any more general elections".... I do not agree with you KP. Is not that we don't have democracy in M'sia anymore, is just that we don't have 100% democracy ! BN has been in power for the past half century but that doesn't mean that they're going to be in power for the next half century! M'sians are more vocal & learned lots thesedays. Comes next GE we'll see BN most likely would be the opposition!

Ladies and gentlemen, Msia is now officially a police state.

The police are blatantly used to intimidate the rakyat instead of protecting her. ADUNs are threatened and kidnapped by the ruling party.

If you talk too much, they will make you disappear, not unlike the days of the Pinochet's regime in Chile. And if you are placed in their custody, you may be tortured and ended up like Kugan, dead.

Even making a simple police report to help a friend can lead to you being water-cannoned.

Tough Times don't last; but Tough People DO - Robert Schuller.

Galvanise and Organise the Rakyat to be a cohesive unit. Sacrifice NOW for the generations to come.

Despite teething differences, PR & BR need to consolidate with NGOs, Hindraf, Bersih, etc for a whopping VICTORY in GE13;leave no stones unturn. It must be a DECISIVE Victory, not winning by a SLIM Majority, which will create further squabbling like what is happening to Perak now.

The sultan of perak who has been once a highly respected man of law, has failed the aspiration of his beloved rakyat in perak. High royal highness has been once given a light of hope to the people about democracy, equality and human dignity in this country but his rationality seems to have failed him in the case of given the right to his subjects in perak to choose the government of their choice.

it's a very sad day for malaysia. and the whole world is watching us. who wants to invest or do business in a country that does not respect the rule of law?

A clear indication that the courts, mainstream media, MACC and PDRM belongs to UMNO

Your last paragraph contained frustrating words over what is becoming of our beloved country. To wait for the next GE for a new government as suggested by rainstorm would also mean that more damage would have been done by then. We are indeed in frustrating times where surprisingly, the balanced scale symbol is lifted up high, but all I can see is that everything that is going on now are emotionally charged where the intellect and rationality are neglected. And it is producing more emotionally charged people who no longer think. (what a waste to the gift of brain!) The balanced scale should also mean a balancing of our intellect and heart (emotions) before making any decision but sadly, we are lacking our thinking process more and more.

When the going gets tough, the tough gets going... Yes, there are many sad days in Malaysia, we have lost count. But we mustn't give up. The people and PR leaders must unite to claim back this country. I also don't agree to that unity govt proposal, because UMNO/BN will never allow the righteous to do their work. It's better to allow this disruptive uprise to continue for a short period to make way for a real democracy to take it's place and get rid of the massive corruption. Otherwise, whatever money poured into our so-called stimulus plan/development project wil be wasted on crony companies.

Only solution at Perak would be Sultan to make a U turn on thier progres which has gone to far.BN shown thier colour,if top lawyers and leaders cant go beyond BN's line,we as a normal citizen might end up at dead end.God help us.

Democracy is not just about having general elections every 5 years and we cannot just depend on few individuals or organization to ensure democracy is still alive. It all depends on each and every one of us, the lay-person, to ensure we have democracy.

The sultans/kings, police, courts and ruling party need to understand that they will not be able to suppress and oppress people forever.

Common people will rise to defend democracy.

Let us vote with our pocket.

Dont pay taxes or delay paying taxes wherever and whenever we can. See if they can afford to pay salary to policemen and civil servants.

Perak has just joint the rank of a failed state. It is a great pity when the Sultan was an eminent judge.

"I am on the side of the law"-Khoo.

Which law, what law?Malaysian laws have been trampled upon and have been buried alife. The law which is prevailing now is the law of the jungle to safeguard the interest of the ruling elites, who are so rich and powerful.

Harsh and inhuman laws are imposed only on ordinary rakyat, this is UMNO's law.The same law helps UMNO to hide all their wrongdoings and helps them to cling on to powerful positions to further rob the wealth of the nation and the poor. The same law is used by UMNO to kill 'suspects'in the name of police self defence which seems to have a certain pattern of targeting a certain ethnic group.

So which law, what law???BOLEH LAND LAW??????????

Democracy is not only dead, it is also a joke in Malaysia. When we have clowns like the police and state secretary entertaining their BN masters. Public servants not serving the people but those with corrupted power.

Can we sue the Executive Branch for gross transgressions on the Legislative Branch? What are our legal options?

Suzie said...

Democracy is NOT DEAD YET!. In Perak, it is being raped and tortured but it is NOT DEAD YET! Not as along as we, the rakyat will NOT LET IT DIE. Stand up for Democracy. Stand up and fight for it!

Antares said...

Beg to differ, Kay Peng. Democracy never existed. Not in Malaysia nor any other country (apart, perhaps, briefly in the city-state of Athens, where the concept originated). So it can't be dead... perhaps as yet unborn, but what we're witnessing are signs of life within. So, let us instead say that democracy will soon be born - when enough citizens awake politically and reclaim their sovereign power, dignity and freedom from the parasitic lifeforms that stole it from them generations ago.

Firstly, these idiots are like some wanking DESPERADOS clinging on to power when it has been clear that Tuanku Sultan doesn’t want them anymore.

Secondly having a meeting under a tree??? That’s pathethic & cheap skate, bro. They might as well have their meeting in a toilet with their pants down looking at each other’s dick & arse.

Hahahahahahaha!!! What a bladdy JOKE

Dear Khoo,
Our sincere heartfelt thanks to you and other bloggers out there who dare to speak-up for the injustice and rape of the constitutional and democratic rights carried out by the BN government of Malaysia.

The is blantant proof that the Malaysian BN government is no different from that of Zimbabwe.

What is perplexing is that parties in the BN alliance like MCA, MIC and Gerakan are hopeless. All full of rhetoric during their AGMs but have no balls to speak-up and act against UMNO when the crunch comes. Guarantee you that this bunch of castrated enuchs will lose the mandate of its base come the next GE.

We hope you and the blogging fraternity would continue to educate the masses out there without fear or favor because the rakyat are fed daily with lies from the gomen controlled Main Stream Media. We need you to counteract this spin or else the rakyat would be brainwashed.
God speed and God bless.

Congratulations, with the emergency meeting held under a tree, we just proved them right.

Democracy in Malaysia has always been a sick man, infected with greed, corruption and blatant self interest. That it has or will die at the hands of BN/Umno is also no surprise for their politicians carried and spread the viruses to all institutions within the country. We are surely going the way of many former British colonies in our political implosion.

toolan said...

I have said it before and I will say it again, we no longer have rule of law, thus we have no democracy! In Malaysia, the Boleh land, we only have UMNO's law......live by it or die by it!

If not for the Pakatan heroes who defended democracy under the tree, umno goons would have a field day making a fools out of you and me, silly!

Illusion of democracy, and not democracy itself, is dead. This is good news. Without the illegal and immoral power grab, it is difficult to know the true colour of 'democracy' - how a mob of power addicts can become crazy when the drug is denied :lying, stealing, robbing, assaulting etc. We need to de-mob-crazy.

Khoo you must be living in dream for the last 20 over years, There are only only Umno laws since M times

Before the berlin wall came down, before the disintegration of the great USSR, would anyone dare dream that one day, freedom will come to them? For as long as we dont lose faith, for as long as we dont forget, for as long as we keep dreaming, one day, Malaysia will be free from the tyranny of UMNO. We are not there yet, but one day, we will surely be free.

Some of us may lose hope and bundle all we have and emigrate... we can say, lets bring our wealth and our talents and leave Malaysia. We must not do that! This is our God given land, we cannot leave our brethen behind... we must stay as one people and keep working to bring true democracy to our land..

PR in Perak is not making a fool of themselves... everything that is happening, goes to show to all Malaysians, that UMNO is completely bankrupt and beyond salvation. We must not allow ourselves to forget, we must keep talking about the injustice, the corruption, the evil of this day, and wait patiently for GE13 and give the final death blow to this sick creature called UMNO.

Democracy is only dead in Malaysia because we allow it to happen.

BN-UMNO may be tyrants, but this only happens because we, the rakyat, allow it.

Sure, we make an awful lot of noises on our blogs and leave comments of outrage on news site. But when it comes to real action, we are doing absolutely nothing.

Damocracy is dead, and we have killed it. All of us.
