I have been asked over and over again by the media if I am impressed with the promises and statements made by UMNO leaders at the party's AGM.
1Malaysia, UMNO to become a centrist party, Malays must lose the siege mentality, 1Tandas etc.
Are we that easily stimulated by slogans, statements and empty promises? Should I give Khairy an Oscar for being able to play different roles so well? The image of Khairy defending the notion of 'Ketuanan Melayu' and claimed that he would not apologize for protecting his community's interest is still livid in my mind.
Malaysia Insider says Khairy needs to be consistent. I applaud him if he has changed for the better, forever. However, I would like to remind Khairy that his speech at the recent UMNO General Assembly will come back to haunt him if he changes his position in the future. The next challenge for Khairy is to walk his talk - dismantle 'Ketuanan Melayu', stand up for his principle even if he might lose his position and walk the talk.
Of course, I would welcome the day when UMNO and other race based political parties decide to embrace all Malaysians.
I would be greatly moved if our politicians can focus on governance and not empty talks.
But, I am not that easily stimulated. Nope, I do not need a Viagra. I need to see some sincerity and action from these politicians.
