MACC Makeover: Changing Our Perception?

Incoming Malaysian Anti- Corruption Commission (MACC) chief Commissioner Abu Kassim Mohammed said:

“We believe we are (consistent) but there is a perception that we’re not. We feel that we’re fair but there’s the perception that we’re not. So, we have to accept such views."

The commission, he added, had to ensure that it was effective, consistent and fair. “We also need to be more transparent,” he added.

Abu Kassim said he needed the support from all sectors of the society, including non-governmental organisations, adding: “Without this, the MACC can’t excel.”

The first thing Abu Kassim should do is to stop believing that his agency is faultless, fair and consistent. There are many instances which pointed to a damning fact that MACC is bias and a self-serving tool of the administration.

What he should do is to accept these weaknesses and try his best to correct them. The people do not have a hidden agenda to victimize the MACC.

So, for a start we would like to know if investigations will be conducted on the VK Lingam scandal, Mohd Khir Toyo massive mansion, Muhyiddin's helicopter ride, PI Bala allegations against the PM and his family members, the PKFZ financial scandal, the Auditor General report and many more.

In the past, most of the cases involving top politicians from the ruling coalition are swept under the carpet. Investigations were announced and conducted but no further action was taken. No satisfactory feedback was ever given to the public.

This is not called transparency. I hope Abu Kassim does not blame it on our perception again.

His boss, resigned gracefully, washed his hands partly because he still have conscience.Do you seriously think that we will have or can have an MACC chief, that independent, partial and powerful to stand up to the Umno warlords???Who is his boss??? Rakyat money or PM?
Anti Corruption Agency can ONLY be effective if the Agency reports to the Head of State that at least perceives to be clean.

If anyone expect MACC to change for the better with a new chief, he/she must be insane. We'll be lucky if it don't get worse.

This Abu fella feels that MACC is only "PERCEIVED" to be bias and inconsistent. So all he need to do is to change the "PERCEPTION" of those who perceived it to be biased and inconsistent! So what will change in MACC under his watch other than a new MACC boss?

Change..???

Really want change..???? Next GE lah peeps...!!!

Yes, talking is easy.

Let time and actions prove the new MACC chief's endeavours to change the perception.

Let truth prevail.

Dear Khoo

Ever heard of the saying, "out of the abundance of his heart, a man shall speak?"

The minute I hear Abu Kassim say, “We believe we are (consistent)", it makes me realise what's in this man's heart. And that is to continue providing back up for UMNO.

Any man worth his salt would know that the MACC - together with its cousin,PDRM, have been anything but consistent.

I do not make apologies for my lack of faith. As far as I am concerned, serious changes can only take place when the UMNO hegemony has been broken; so in the meantime, we have to put up with this PR show from Putrajaya.

Consistent eh?

Try telling that to Teoh Beng Hock's family.

The only way is to make MACC report
to Parliment anything less will be USELESS.

Hi Mr. Khoo,
Can the leopard ever change its spot ?
Never, as long as UMNO/BN is in control
after all they decide so becomes the chief.
So to ensure the change, vote the corrupted UMNO/BN out in the next GE.
