New Putrajaya Directive on the Use of 'Allah' & Political Desperation

Christians in the two Malaysian Borneo states can continue to use the term 'Allah' for God in Malay print as they have done for the last 300 years.

The federal government however still sees no reason why Christians in Peninsular Malaysia should use the term 'Allah' for God even in Malay print, and East Malaysians resident in the Peninsula have to respect the prohibition.

The new directive on the use of 'Allah' is both silly and outrageous. Can this directive be implemented? This directive has created more confusion than trying to solve the current impasse.

What term should the East Malaysians traveling to West Malaysia use in their prayers?

This directive is just a political decision to mitigate Barisan's damaged integrity in both Sabah and Sarawak, which were seen as it political fixed deposits.

“Christians in Sabah and Sarawak need not worry over this issue because it is a common tradition there. I have been to an Iban church service and I heard 'Allah' used there,” Nazri said. Here, Nazri has shown his biggest hypocrisy. Why didn't he tell the government so at the very start of the ban?

Asked why the need for two sets of rules on the usage of the word, he stressed that this is not a unique practice as Malaysia also has two sets of laws on other matters, citing the syariah court and the civil court as examples.

Nazri's attempt to equate the two set of directives on the use of 'Allah' to the syariah and civil courts is another example of his lack of knowledge about the rule of law. Under the constitution, the civil court is the supreme court and not syariah court. How can this be an apple to apple comparison?

Is Nazri even fit to speak on behalf of the government on this issue?

How silly can those UMNO politicians get. I have not even got over this:

" Sultan Selangor mahu kerajaan negeri halang bukan Islam guna kalimah ‘Allah’."

Soon they may even make it law that "Allah" is not allowed mention during Friday Christian prayers by East Malaysians, Friday a holy day reserved solely for Muslims alone.

KAKAKAKAKKA!!! ...jokers!

Looks like a band-aid solution. What will happen if Sabahan amd Sarawakian Christian so used to the word ' Allah' come over to Peninsula Malaysia. Will they have to stop using 'Allah'?. I will not be surprise that it will be another flip-flop decision. 1 Malaysia, 2 Gods.

" How can this be an apple to apple comparision?" Why not? In this wonderful land of ours anything goes. To some smart people of Min Of Hihger Edu. apple and orange are actually the same. remember the university intake fiasco that based on Matriculation and STPM not too long ago? To the same smart people orange are in fact better apple! How pathetic!

Maintaining the historical status quo for East Malaysia and forbidding the use of the A word in peninsular Malaysia (let alone how it is to be implemented) is not a solution at all.

If anything, Malaysia will be perceived internationally as practicing an irrational double standard for the sake of appeasing the extremists.

Looks like UMNO is utterly confused and does not know why it is against the use of the word Allah by Christians.
First they said it will confuse Muslims.
Then they claimed its Christians way of converting Muslims.
Then they said Allah is a a Muslim God and Christians cannot use them.
Now they say eat can, west cannot.

For how long will the East Malaysians be able to continue with the usage before the next bigot start to rant again? This country is looking more and more silly by the day. It reflects on the type of leadership we have. This put to rest the 1Malaysia mantra is all hot air and meaningless mumbo jumbo from Najib.

Since East Malaysia have different terminology,

Why not make it a different country as well ?

NAZRI - You must study hard

The "allow East and not Peninsula" decision is solving the problem of angry people.

It doesn't solve the issue of whether Christians can use the word "Allah".

If there is a date in our country's history that should guide our decisions, it is 13 May 1969. Back then we said, things must change, discriminatory policies must exist. But it was a solution designed to appease an angry society rather than solving the question of "why one race can do it and another can't?".

40 years later, racial walls are higher than ever. Did we not learn after 40 years?

The minister in the PM's dept DS Nazri Aziz is talking nuts by saying the Kalimah Allah can be used by Christians in Sarawak and Sabah. UMNO and BN made blunders in ruling the country for half a century. They are on the way to be booted out in the next general elections. Now they will do anything to get support but is not working. They are prepared to even compromise on the use of Kalimah Allah by others. DS Nazri, how can this govt rule the country by having 2 sets of regulations for the same matter, that is one for peninsular and the other for Sabah & Sarawak. Tak sedar lagikah Nazri. Di mana iman hang?

This is as stupid as it gets. Even Nazri has outdone himself this time around. The fact that a cabinet ranked Minister from Umno is floating the idea of a compromise is evidence enough of their concern on their flimsy vote losing stand.

This Allah issue is all about politics, pure and simple. I really hope the people of Sarawak and Sabah now have their eyes prised open and that BN loses their East Malaysian vote bank with this arrogant blunder.

sorry to say this but shariah court is actually at the same status as civil courts after the constitution was amended several years ago

This Naz policy indirectly confirmed what BN's been saying all these while. That many among them "brainless, moral-less & logic-less" will be easily confused while the rest of us esp. from S&S aren't.

Hence in peninsular, no one else should use the A-word and confuse their already very confused mind.

Pardon me if this argument make no sense to you, I'm also blur ans confused now!

That "OXFART" cunning and apportunistic bull is at its wit again. This time trying to be a hero trying to teach religious issueS to East Malaysians. Just the look at him will make one puke. BN Youth the model for the younger generation to follow? No, thanks. This is the same group of goons who, until recently, were wielding keris while threatening other races and physically harassed wheelchair-bound DAP leader Karpal Singh in Parliament.
Hey, you "oxfart" bull, please don't 'kacau' East Malaysians. The people who created the tension are not from the East.
What makes us East Malaysians proud is that we do not play racial and religious politics. Look at Sabah and Sarawak: when we campaign for elections, we never use racial issue to gain support. We do not make racist remarks and attack other races. Only West Malaysians play such a dangerous and selfish game. "Oxfart", please don't bring in your racist and religious game to East Malaysia.
Get your dirty hands off Sabah and Sarawak. We do not need you and your extremists to come and colonise us. First, the chief minister's post was rotated among the BN component parties. Then, Umno said that only the dominant party could take the CM's post.
The Sabahans now realise this and will kick them out in the next general election. The Allah row should not have happened, but Umno started it, and now they have shot themselves in the foot. This is a blessing in disguise for Sabah and Sarawak.
Just kick this "Oxfart" and his goons out before they create racial and religious tensions in our "Land Of PEACE". We have enough from you guys.
