Malay Consultative Council a New Dilemma for Najib

Najib's 1Malaysia vision is facing yet another serious threat. 80 Malay groups came together to form the Malay Consultative Council (MPM) to push the government to maintain affirmative action for the country’s dominant race.

A Malay leader revealed that the MPM wants the Umno-led Barisan Nasional government to maintain a “guided” New Economic Policy (NEP) that protects the Malays and Bumiputras, saying the community was worried about moves to abolish subsidies and other forms of aid.

The fact is the federal government cannot afford to hand out subsidies and aids forever. Malaysia's oil reserve is depleting. Our over dependence on oil revenue is slowing stalling our ability to fund socio-economic development programmes.

Najib has identified the need to build a high growth economy through innovation and creativity. The question is how is he going to convince these Malay NGOs that what they are doing (blind protection of Malay rights) is going to generate more pain than gain for the community.

As a small economy with limited resources, we should have focused on growing the economic pie and not fighting over crumbs. The newly established MCC should prove that it is not all talk but no walk.

What can the MCC do to help in capacity building of the Malays? Malay may be the dominant race in Malaysia but it is just a minority race globally. The community must work harder and acquire as much knowledge and skills as possible to compete with the world's best. Education and knowledge acquisition is the only option for survival. Not racial chest beating or making unreasonable demands.

If MCC is only interested in making demands on Malay rights and blame the non-Malay but keeping quiet on their Malay leadership own mismanagement and all other ills which have much larger implication on the Malay community, it risks being treated as a shallow organisation and a group of racial opportunists.

MCC or Perkasa may not be Ibrahim Ali's best bet to retain his MP seat. He should not be given another opportunity.

Najib should state his stand on the MCC and Perkasa if he truly believes in his own 1Malaysia. We are awaiting to be reassured.

Can somebody please help me to understand how the minority non-malays (35% altogether) is a big threat to the majority 65%malays who controls the army.polis,royalties,government..etc?It's the other way round, in reality. So stop the time-wasting hyprocrisy and get down to work on the stalling economy for the nation's future! Can we stop politicking for just one day and sit down to work on the economy which is now seriously in dire straits?

Do you think these NGOs are REALLY fighting for the overall good of the MALAYs? To me, they are actually fighting for their POCKETS (some are them are "sub-contractors" from UMNO).

I am ALL for equality and justice for all Malaysians - since Malays form the largest group of "low-income" earners, they deserve more help BUT not in the manner these jokers want to...they want keep M'sia closed, backwards and get a BIGGER piece of a shrinking economic pie.

M'sia has to change for the better or we may move towards Zimbabwe or Myanmar. Our children may/will end up as maids in China or India...

What is the point of being addressed as a "Tuan" and underneath wearing a torn underwear? Isn't it more productive and patriotic to teach all the Malaysians to work hard and stand united against all the challenges all Malaysians need to face in this new era of world globalisation. I really don't understand these group of people and their mentality. Are they cowards or blind? Or a totally different species on this earth?

Championing the rights of the Malays?? Or just trying to protect their own interests?? Malaysians at at large Malays, Indians, Chinese, Dayaks, Ibans, Melanaus and so many others who make up the population of Malaysia have had it already!!! Can all these NGOs actually honestly and unequivocally profess that they are really concerned with the Malay man on the street??? I think not!!! More concerned with with their piece of the pie more than anything else!!!!!

In a democracy, it is normal for people to be associated with the groups they like. Right now, UMNO Baru, is going all out to stoke racial tensions and differences and to create chaos if possible. Only the sound mindedness of the rakyat are preventing them to succeed in their evil desires!

Only the Rakyat can do something for this country! Let us keep up with the lies and stupid dramas presented to us one by one by UMNO and now PERKASA. Just keep calm and accept whatever they want to dramatize. Just wait for the opportune moment and that opportune moment, is the next GE. We must as Malaysians pushed hard, very very hard to ensure the fall of this dinosaur UMNO/BN. It must fall for Malaysia to progress and rebuild the country. There is no more future for Malaysians in this country as the way we look at the kind of politics that is being played out by UMNO Baru who is just not interested in governing eventhough they are given the mandate to do so by the Rakyat! They are only interested in destabilizing opposition held states!

Najib is too weak, if he is strong, he would not allow the worst dpm and em Malaysia ever has to contradict him and make a mockery of all his policies. Muhydiin is the real evil in the Government, and he is doing everything so that Malaysians hate him and UMNO, so that in the next GE, the results will be equally bad, and he can asked Najib to resign, and he takes over, otherwise why is he making a mockery of the Najib administration? Think hard Malaysians, if Muhyddin takes over, just pack your bags and leave! Just let him do whatever he wants. It will be better if we choose to vote them out then to leave, but, the choice is in our hands, just do it and vote them out! It is better to have alternative choices than to have none!

It takes a herculean task to vote this evil administration out, but, if the Thais, Indonesians, Filipinos can, why can't we? Remember, this is the only Government left standing in the world, since world war 2, and it is high time, very high time to vote them out and form a new Government, Malaysians, are you all so outdated and do not understand what the world outside is? Just vote this useless administration out and let our future generations benefit from good governance!

Let the Malays have what they want for now and when the oil fields have run dried what is the Keutuna Melayu to ask for ?
Why teach them how to be independent ? All their lives they depend on hand out, they claim they were here before every body including the Sakai and the Head Hunters.
Even if that was true and with that head start what has happened ? Do they need another 500 years ? How are they get the money to fund the all famous NEP ?
May be they can have the country without the non Malays and see what will happen ! It would not be long, at the rates the educated non Malays are immigrating to other countries.

Someone should tell these people that the only way to improve their lot is to pull up their sock and work their ass off like everyone else. Depending on hand-outs is not the way out because hand-outs are the sweat and tears of others who are actually more deserving than these lazy bums. It's really shameful for a majority to live on the hard work of the minority.

Perhaps all Malaysians will be happy with the slogan, "Together we sink" in times of globalization where our competitiveness erodes to stinking levels of Zimbabwe, Myanmar & North Korea.

Wake up politicians of both the divide in Malaysia; lest our children shall die standing. I am not surprised by the 300,000 Malaysians migration in 2009. Just see how many of these 300,000 are non-Malays will tell those in the power corridors who will suffer most in times to come when Malaysia is no longer competitive.

Arrogance is merely denial of truth. Wake up call to ensure that we have a true Malaysian identity which does not depend on colour, race or creed.

Even malays had migrated to other country.

Looking beyond the current hoo-ha that's going on, there is more than meets the eye.

Ever wondered who are behind these developing events? Who would stand to gain with Najib's departure? Who would be audacious enough to challenge Najib? Both are keen to preserve and assert their so called authority.

Looks like M & M are both coming out to play! One keeps playing with fire while the other keeps blundering!

Completing the demography in Sabah:
Kadazan-Dusun, Malay, Kwijau, Murut, Bajau, Illanun, Lotud, Rungus, Tambanuo, Dumpas, Mangka'ak, Suluk, Orang Sungai, Brunei, Kedayan, Bisaya Beaufort, Tidong, Maragang, Orang Cocos, Paitan, Ida'an, Minokok, Rumanau, Sabah born Chinese, Sabah born Chinese with mixed indigenous parentage, Filipino born Sabahan (Tagalog/ Bisaya/ Ilocano/ Suluk/ Badjao/ Iranun/ Tausug), Indonesian born Sabahan (Bugis, Jawa /Timoris /Banjar), Pakistani born Sabahan (Punjabi/Pastun), Cocos born Sabahan, Burmese born Sabahan, Nepal born Sabahan, Indian born Sabahan (Punjabi/Tamil), Sarawakian indigenous Malaysian (Iban/Penan/Dayak), Portuguese & Dutch descendant (Serani/Belanda),and Peninsular Malay/ Chinese/ Indian. Collectively, they make up a total of 32 officially recognized groups.

…and in Sarawak:
Dayak Iban, Chinese, Malay/Kadayan, Melanau, Dayak Bidayuh, Dayak Orang Ulu (Kayan/Lun Bawang/Kelabit/Kenyah/ Penan/ Sebob-Chebob) and making up more than 40 sub-ethnic groups.

..and in Malaya:
Malay/Chinese/Indian/Orang Asli/ Siam/ Thai/ Indon/ Philippinoes/ Eurasian/ Cambodians/ Vietnamese.

So, UMNO government will have to come up with ways to tax the other races in order to continue to give hand-outs to the Malays; right?

I afraid what the Nazi did is throw in Gimmick to promote a false front....

I afraid when all the plundering & milking is completed, instead of 1Malaysia, there will be NoMalaysia or 0Malaysia left.

That day is inevitable...hust a matter of when!

So, Act we must at the election for we are suppose to be in a 'democratic' country, thou we all know it won't be by democratic means should the Nazi party fails.

So, Act we must by peaceful means not allowing his goons to take opportunity to rule using emergency excuses...

Act now if you want Malaysia to be in 1Piece.

These NGO are bank robbers. They only cater for themselves and not the Malays. They are myopic in their long term plan for themselves and Malays. You really can't blame them after all they have been brain washed into thinking that they are supreme.

Gee. Some people are forever insecure and feel under threat all the time. They seem paranoid or are suffering from inferiority complex. Their crutch mentality has caused their bones to harden and they are now deformed permanently.

They should have the guts to stand up and have have the backbones to achieve things for themselves and not expect handouts all the time. Beggars who find it profitable to beg will beg continuously. And will blame everyone if they don't get any donations.

There are definitely a group of malay bumiputras (not sure if other bumis are represented) who are fearful of giving up their special rights. You cannot blame them after all the govt has given them this right for over 50 yrs. They have become like drug addicts and cold turkey treatment is never ever pleasant.

If I may suggest, we should help out this special group. By the way, as not all malays feel this way, a register has to be set up in order to monitor them to ensure that they remain the care of public. By this I mean, they no longer deserve the right to work, basically they have to give up their right to work or do any form of business. The rest of the working public will pay an additional tax of 1% to fund them indefinitely. Hence they no longer need to be fearful of not being able to survive as their basic needs have been taken care of. Let the rest of the nation progress.

Can we just do this, get straight to the point if this is the point???

I think those who are fearful are actually doing quite well financially and want to do well at the expense of others. This is not fair....give up your right to work and do business and let the public take care of you. Make yourself known that you need this help. Dont be shy. Show your hand. If this means changing the constitution, do so. I am sure the public will give their support. After all, it is for the sake of the nation.

Even the Indonesians, Thais, Cambodians etc..behave better then them in all aspects. At least they work hard for their money.

Najib must have enough political wisdom to sense the motives of the 80 Malay NGOs and Perkasa are the plot of the right wing faction of UMNO to discredit his 1 Malaysia. They forgot they are now required to compete globally to survive that's transcending racial boundaries. If not, Najib's recent effort to win back the trust of non-Malay is just a waste of time.

Could we use taxes collected from the minority to fund programs for the non-bumi groups and taxes from Malays to fund programmes for the Malay? That way, Malaysians can see how much of funding from non-bumis are used to support the bumis. We need an end to the crutch mentality now.

Honestly I think these groups of so called NGOs calling for the perpetuation of NEP and the clutch from the government are just a bunch of limp dicks. (sorry for the profanity cos I am lost for words for a group of people who act like limp dicks) Actually they are groups of hill billies with pea sized brains walking around in city clothes and pretending to be smart. Little do they know they are the bud of the joke for the highly educated city folks.
Can't wait for the 13th GE to kick these folks and the likes of these pea sized moron out of the parliment and state legislative counsels.
