NEM, NEP, Perkasa & Malay First, Malaysian Second: Time is Running Out for PM Najib

PM Najib is forced to go back to the Barisan old script when he was asked to react on his deputy statement that he was "Malay 1st, Malaysian 2nd".

Najib defended his deputy, "Being a Malay doesn't mean that you are against 1Malaysia or you don't think like a Malaysian." "Similarly, if you are a Malaysian Chinese, it doesn't mean that you don't think like a Malaysian or subscribe to the concept of 1Malaysia," he said.

Najib's knee-jerk reaction on Muhyiddin's statement unmasks his own understanding about nation building and the 1Malaysia concept.

The lack of national affinity and shared destiny is the main obstacle for 1Malaysia. It is sad to note that the 1Malaysia founder himself does not share the vision of nationhood and citizenship. If Najib does not trust his own nation building agenda, he should not have misused the name, Malaysia. 1Malaysia is not consistent with Ethnicity 1st, Nationality 2nd.

We cannot blame Muhyiddin for his lack of national identity because nation building was not featured in the Barisan rule over the last 5 decades. Barisan is an antithesis to 1Malaysia and nation building. The most important element in a nation building project is to outlaw racial discrimination. Barisan is the epitome of racism and racially based politics.

Najib cannot remain coy and silent on the demands, attacks and allegations made against the Chinese community, in particularly, by Perkasa.

Interestingly, a politician such as Ibrahim Ali needed racism to resurrect his career. Of course he is enjoying the media limelight at the moment. At the Aljazeera interview, he lambasted "If these people say that they are second-class citizens, don't talk s**t! Don't talk s**t! I repeat three times, don't talk s**t!"

"We, the Malays have forgiven them a lot, we have sacrificed a lot of our interests," he added.

I would like Ibrahim to clarify what interests?

It appears that Muhyiddin is now clamouring to ride on Perkasa's wave by declaring that he is "Malay 1st" and "Malaysian 2nd".

Regardless of the publicity stunt and damage control, Najib knows that his defence of Muhyiddin and his statement is going to tear his concept to pieces.

His administration is dragging its feet on the NEM details and mechanism. It makes us wonder if there is any meat at all in NEM.

Time is running out for him. Another talk but no walk is going to put him on the same pedestal as Abdullah Badawi.

Najib should state his stand on Perkasa and Ibrahim Ali's disrespect for non-Malay citizens. They (Najib, Muhyiddin and Ibrahim) should remember that their salaries and perks are paid by Malaysians of all races. Not by the Malays only.

SAY NO TO RACISM!

Most Chinese would say they are Chinese first than Malaysian. If not why insist on sending their children to Chinese schools.

Well, he said he is Malaysian first, the Malays will shun him, but NOW because of what he said, all the Malaysian (malay, chinese, indian dll) will shun him! Shame on him... he's too eager to support n please Tun M... as part of the racist n extremist group. We don't need such person to lead the country.... RESIGN!

Ha ha. Thank God for the Internet that we can laugh together at the rude antics of these racists.

However, let us not allow our bemusement to turn into outright mockery.

A Malaysian Malaysia is indeed the vision of God for this country. My pastor said this why Malaysia is called a rainbow nation where all the colours blend together side by side. Maybe red is a more dominant color but it occupies the same width and wave lengths as other colors.

According to the bestselling writers of Freakonomics, the self-implosion of the Klu Klux Klan was caused by a former insider revealing in public all the secrets of the Klan and exposing their childishness and intellectual immaturity. It was shame and the loss of tribal secrecy that caused them to disband voluntarily.

I suggest the same should be done with Perkasa/UMNO, find an insider to expose their modus operandi and make it a funny tale (published online of course).

Then we can start tackling the new new NEM seriously.

This has been the system till today as our PM and DPM are actually elected by UMNO candidates during their General Assembly.

Without getting elected by UMNO candidates, one cannot hope to become PM and DPM.

We can pray, work and hope that this will change in time.

NO! To Racism! No To Muhyddin! No to Perkasa and Abraham Ali! Najib? Well, it is up to him how far he wants to be honest to Malaysians of all races of all walks of life of his 1Malaysia!

Abraham Ali, is hopelessly out of sync with modern Malaysia. What sacrifices Abraham? Lim Kit Siang had sacrificed his freedom in fighting for you when you were a student leader! You criticized the Chinese, you want to antagonize the Chinese, but, the Chinese had seen too much of these and are not going to take your bait. Neither are the Malays! You tried to be a hero of the Malays, but, secretly, you went to see a Chinese when you were in trouble, and also you worked with gambling Chinese towkays!

There must be truth and sincerity in your fight for the Malays, is there Abraham? If there is, please explain where the 52billion ringgit out of 54billion ringgit shares allocated to the poor Malays had gone to? If you sincerely are the champion of Islam/Malays, can you please stop the spread of gambling amongst the poor Malays? Can you? We await your affirmative reply with regards to what you are doing to curb the gambling menace amongst the Malays.

The comment below is also applicable to the posting made by Khoo Kay Peng on NEM, NEP, Perkasa & Malay First, Malaysian Second: Time is Running Out for PM Najib above.

Originally it was made in response to a posting by Kee Thuan Chye in Free MalaysiaToday, http://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/ftenglish/opinion/comment/3929-now showing-in-bolehland

Indeed sad, for former Prime Minister, Tun Mahathir to be involved with such a group as Perkasa whose objective is not to help create 1Malaysia/Bangsa Malaysia but instead to impede it.

What is wrong with all races being united under the Malaysian sun? Why is Ibrahim Ali so much against the Unity of All Races in this country? As if he is taking vengeance on the Malays, Chinese, Indians, Kadazans/Dusuns/Muruts, Bajaus, Bruneis, Ibans, Melanaus and Bidayuhs whose only desire as right thinking citizens are to be united as a nation with equal opportunities for all.

Is this wrong? If so, then what is Malaysia all about? Is it about, after forty seven years of independence, to be still divided by race and religion?

This organization will create a negative impact in the country. It is undermining the philosophy of our founding fathers, Tunku Abdul Rahman and the other leaders whose original concept of Malaysia was that of a nation made up of various races, united and existing as a democratic country.

By its action, Perkasa is saying, it is not interested in Malaysia as a united nation. And therefore, it is against the notion of Malaysia/Bangsa Malaysia.

Meaning, it does not support the move by the Prime Minister to bring all the races together under the banner of 1Malaysia/Bangsa Malaysia. In brief, it is hindering Dato’ Najib’s plan to do so as mentioned above.

Not only that, Ibrahim Ali’s action is not supportive of making Malaysia a succes. Instead he wants to create a detriment. And using Perkasa as the vehicle to do so.

Such acts are very damaging and UMNO should take serious measures to stop it before it adversely affect both UMNO and the government.

Hi Mr Khoo.

Are you sure Ibrahim Ali has not been misquoted? That happens quite often when some politians/idiots open their mouth.

"At the Aljazeera interview, he lambasted "If these people say that they are second-class citizens, don't talk s**t! Don't talk s**t! I repeat three times, don't talk s**t!"

"We, the Malays have forgiven them a lot, we have sacrificed a lot of our interests," he added."

I tend to believe what he meant to say was " We, the NON-MALAYS have forgiven them a lot, we have sacrificed a lot of our interest"

Because that is a FACT and the gospel truth!

Actually if you press them harder they will put 1Religion above 1Ethnicity over 1Nationality.

When has the UMNO Malays ever thought of sharing what they have with the rest? Even Allah is specific to them. Look at the UMNO Puteri assembly, 99% dress like Arabs, when they are not even 1% Arab. Oh, but when a Chinese Muslim dresses or acts in accordance to Islamic practices, they call him or her "mualaf" or convert. Hey, aren't all Muslims in Malaysia converts at some point in time? We know for a fact that Parameswaran was Hindu.

How is it that it is not sensitive to slaughter a cow and have it telecast live on TV but it is sensitive if the Chinese were to feature suckling pig for CNY, or even start to indulge on feasting on it.

Tough luck lah for us to be born in a country where none of its Malay ethnic leaders (past and present) have the courage to do what is right and fair like Nelson Mandela, JFK, Martin Luther King or even Gandhi. Not even half the man of them.

Call me un-yielding, hard-hearted or any other similar labels, but I say again what I have said so many times before....when are non-Malays in Malaysia going to realize that they have been fooled over and over again by those racist UMNO politicians who care only for their own pockets. Fighting for religion and race !!!? Give me a break !!! If the non-Malays progressed in all aspects of life from end of Japanese war in 1945 till the start of the NEP (25 yrs) UMNO still says the Malays are left behind after 40 years of preferential treatment ? That is indirectly saying that the Malays are quite useless and I personally do not believe that becos I have many Malay friends who are capable and earned their stripes. It's the UMNO Malays that are the cause of all the ills faced by Malaysia today. I said this in many blogs and I say it here again...UMNO will eventually destroy Malaysia.
NEM, NEP...whatever, pigs will fly the day that UMNO sees everyone as Malaysians first. Do I need further proof than what the DPM and PM uttered over the week...just goes to show their mind-set, hearts, and sincerity in nation building...or maybe they are so dumb they don't even understand that one's nationality should come before one's etnicity in striving for a better nation.

Just a step for another 52 years of lie to dried the nation wealth.

With all these "current" formation of organization & "shit" that came from within.....
And they way our country is being run....

WHAT can we do..? Just wait for next election.
Coz "NO" matter how we (the rakyat) comment & whine, the powers-that-be just don't give a damn...!

Currently doing & saying whatever they want to go against 1Malaysia that Najib, "he himself" still believes in.....!!!

A PM of any country must be able to tell his Minister to "shut up" & toe the line. They must NOT do & say things that go against the country's agendas. They must work "for" the people as elected. They must............

If I keep going, it'll be too long. But I think we all know what & why these bums are elected & their job specs are.

But then again.....
Seems NOT!!!

None of them would want to develop Malaysia in terms of technology. Malaysia has now exported more Chinese and Indians than their own Proton cars! Can't we be like Singapore? Only import in the talented or highly educated ones and not indonesians and banglas...

Sometimes, I wonder why we need to coin the word "bumiputra" when all it means is "1bumi 1putra"? Or is it really "1Malayputra"?

What is colonialism in it's oldest form?
Making Malaysia a colony of the ancient Malay Archipelago. Is this anything different from the old power supermacy of the colonial rulers?

I hope you can read this message but beyond that the issue of racism is a global struggle and it's good to know this and that is disclosed. Are the human rights institutions to denounce these people and their racism, if so, is made public and divorces. That way would at least take the weight which falls to thinking that way and maybe reflect a little better.
