A slew of UMNO leaders are trying to distance their party from the extreme right-winged group Perkasa. They agreed that supporting Perkasa views could prove detrimental to BN and UMNO. Ironically, more than 80 percent of Perkasa members come from the party.
It's most famous member, Dr Mahathir, is the patron the group led by one of the most promiscuous politicians in Malaysia, Ibrahim Ali. Despite the call to stand up against Perkasa, it is undoubtedly possible for UMNO to give a strict order for its members to disassociate themselves from the group.
A number of Pakatan leaders are demanding UMNO to explain their relationship with Perkasa. Without a firmer action against its members supporting the group, the statements made by UMNO leaders against Perkasa would be seen as a 'wayang kulit' or an act to repair the damages and grouses against the party.
Perkasa’s secretary-general Syed Hassan Syed Ali warned political parties today, that they risk electoral defeat if they attempt to alienate the Malay rights group.
Syed Hassan expectedly derided Umno’s move to distance itself from Perkasa. He pointed out that ties between Perkasa and Umno never existed.
Without a doubt, Syed Hassan's threat comes from the group desperation for attention. The broader question should be asked if Perkasa can survive without the support and patronage of UMNO leaders and members?
The leadership of PAS and PKR had consistently spoken up against Perkasa. On the flip side, PM Najib had spoken at the group's event and ex-PM Dr M is the patron of the group. A number of UMNO leaders had defended the group's stand on race and religion. The only consistent opposition came from UMNO Youth leader Khairy Jamaluddin.
Without a firmer and clean cut from Perkasa, UMNO and BN will not be able to recover its non-Malay support base. Political parties in BN should take this opportunity to push the coalition towards non-racism and greater democratisation. It does not help if parties such as MCA is still insisting that racial politics is here to stay for a long haul.
It's president Chua Soi Lek had misread the changing mindset of the Chinese electorates. They will no longer cast a vote for a MCA candidate hoping that the party will counter balance UMNO in BN. This is a thing of the past.
Malaysian Chinese voters are voting for a new dawn: a fairer, equitable and non-racial Malaysia.

Perkasa must declare its stand whether it supports 1Malaysia which means Unity and Equality for all Malaysians. Or it wants to create 2Malaysia, one superior and the other inferior.
In layman terms, whether it is pro Malaysia or not? It is only fair and right that all Malaysians should know Perkasa's true stand on this issue as it concerns the future and survival of the country as a nation.
As a chinese voter I must admit that I want more voice and more share of the goodies. I have nothing to lose. Of course dont ever try to take away whats mine the chinese school or the guilds and associations. We have to educate the Malays especially those in the kampungs to wake up early,work harder and longer in the field instead of wasting time in coffee shop and praying
All these talks are just trying to win the non Malay votes in the coming GE. But really all they need to do is have the courage to have the shenanigan Mahathir indicted for the many atrocities he committed during his 23 years tenure as P.M. of Malaysia.
Without doubt the present leaders will loose some supports as a consequence but will surely win more supports than losing some. I would even bet my life that notwithstanding the corrupted Umno officials and the candidates of the BN will surely win. Just take the example when BN won 93% of the votes when the shenanigan Mahathir disappeared from the political scene or supposedly to have retired.
All the Malaysians came out to rejoice and elected BN in the national election. By the same token BN in the next election almost lost their pants and it was because the Malaysians realised the shenanigan did not retire when he started to come out 'retirement' and started to
vomit his always racist pollution.
So Najib and his corrupted Umno warlords do just that, have the shenanigan Mahathir, indicted and you don't even have to worry doing anything else and you will still win and retain you hold of the nation. Even though you will still loose later on !
Most of all you will always be remembered for the courage and the favour to the nation to do just that, so do that P.M. before the shenanigan Mahathir goes to meet his Maker !
Who are those Umno members in Perkasa?? All the have beens and sidelined Umnoputeras....
In the first place,why did the BN govt approve PERKASA as an official body and issue licence so swiftly for their newsletter? This is seen as a 'backup' voice for UMNO.You see,during their 1st meeting,they are already exerting that the Malays are the 'tuan' of this country(race supremacy)and demanding that NEP be continued and even suggested that the proportion of wealth should be shared on the basis of race composition,to the extend to demand that the malay should be entitled to 67%! Come on!PERKASA!please be fair!Another thing is PERKASA is acting like they are the landlord of this country,like ordering the police to take action(using ISA)against political leaders(in the case of Wee Ka Siong and Chua Soi Lek)for some comments on the NEP.Yet,the PERKASA spokemen are not subject to police actions when they uttered racial comments and even police reports have been lodged against them!Well,what do you expect,even the police are seen to be racial in their thinking!
The the malay view....chinese people are demanding. They believe they deserve more than before, they believe they are unfairly treated by the government, they need more this and that, they forget about everything but they tradition, I think pusaka is nothing less like dap. But chinese so bising. They need someone like mahadir to seal their mouth. Chinese political parties are more racies than the black american. i think they should create more songs to express their feeling. Like the wee wee..another hip hop singer.
