Chua Soi Lek & RCI on Teoh Beng Hock's Death: Whither MCA?

Initially, he praised the PM setting up a RCI to probe Teoh's case when the inquest yielded no closure claiming that the government is transparent and wants to hide nothing.

Dr Chua Soi Lek flip-flopped and dismissed calls for a royal commission to probe Teoh Beng Hock’s death, whose scope has been limited to anti-graft investigation methods.

Prime Minister Najib Razak announced the formation of a royal commission of inquiry (RCI) to review the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) investigation procedures but not to probe Teoh's mysterious death.

Is Chua so desperate and willing to do anything just to heap praises on the PM?

The most important thing which has to be resolved is a closure to Teoh's sudden and gruesome death. His family deserve to know why he never walked out alive after his session at the MACC. Ironically, is the government admitting the fault of the agency by setting up a RCI to investigate the investigation process of MACC?

By limiting the scope, for sure no one will ever be prosecuted. It is scary to imagine that some possible offenders may still be lurking within the agency.

MCA wants to court the Chinese youths to support the party. On what basis should they pledge their support for a party which is a misnomer of a party claiming to represent the community if it cannot even strive for a fair, just and democratic Malaysia?

I am a non-partisan voter. Can Chua tell me why should I support his party apart from claiming that MCA needs my support to help protect my interest, which is a misnomer?

Chua is too partisan for his own good. What is his response to a group of race lunatics in Perkasa who continue to hurl abuses at the Chinese Malaysians?

Hi Khoo,

You asked "Why PM said 'YES' to of a RCI to review MACC procedure 'BUT NOT' TBH death", right???

Oh my gosh!!! Even a JACKASS could answer this question.

The ANSWER is as SIMPLE as 1..2...3. Firstly, MACC is a NATIONAL ENTITY & MACC have direct influence to national interest.

However sadly, TBH is NOT a 'NATIONAL FIGURE'. He's NOT even a POLITICIAN or neither have any IMPORTANCE to national affairs. Perhaps (just perhaps only) if LIM KIT SIANG or ANWAR IBRAHIM died the way TBH did, then, I can accept a RCI for it. As for TBH, who is he at NATIONAL LEVEL??? Sadly, he's NO ONE.

There are MILLIONS of MALAYSIANS who DIE mysteriously every day & does this mean for each & every mysterious death, the Govt. have to set up a RCI for it??? This will be a TOTAL WASTE of public funds & taxpayers $$$ (yet you fellas complain about oil price hike, toll price hike & so on).

Let's NOT be "PENNY WISE & POUND FOOLISH", ok??? I do feel there's a NEED to investigate on how TBH actually died BUT to set-up a RCI just for it is completely ABSURD!!! There are many ways to investigate this case by NOT using Government funds/taxpayers money. If lack of funds is the main concern, then, I strongly believe PAKATAN RAKYAT would LOVE to pay for it. After all, they LOVE paying just to get cheap publicity, right???

Come 'on, dudes. Let's use our BRAINS before jumping to the conclusion. Most people groan & complain becos' the oil price has gone up but no one seems to complain should the Govt. use taxpayers money to set-up a RCI for every mysterious death.

I won't be surprised to know if there are people who will ask the Govt. to set-up a RCI just to investigate dogs death or cows death along our Highways. This is getting CRAZY, man!!!

If we put ourselves in the shoes of the aggrieved we surely want to get to the bottom truth.Be empathatic and allow their family to seek for a finale to their sad situation, why deny them any chance at all? It's really a sad revealation to find out that both MCA and Perkasa are actually good buddies who think and talk same without human feelings.

Does the sex life of politicians matter? Do you think it influences the way they approach their jobs?

The people of Penang have given the Gerakan/MCA their finger. The rest of the community in other states are following in the next election! MCA has been a party to UMNO's shennigans for the past 30 years.
There are people dying!

Jerry,
Just hope that it doesn't happen to any of your family member.

No need to use tax payers money for TBH's RCI.......

MCA got many millions. They can sponsor! Keeping the money for what???

If need RCI on MACC, better they close shop. Many cases has been 'doubled standered'.
It sure shows their incapability.

Perkasa IS a waste of universal time & space! They couldn't even get proper minded & intellegent Malays to join.

They are now using gimmicks & "enticing" easy prey..., Mat & Minah Rempits just to increase the amount to fill up their 'tong'!
Their only agenda is 'selfishness'.

They even have the "BALLS" to so called ... speak up to our PM. Yet our PM has not done nuts!
Utusan still getting away with all their 'spew'.

BN or PKR or third party, and whatever problems anyone of them have...
"We want change!!!"

Understand or NOT.

Anonymous 10.33pm,
It's not sex life per se.
It's about morality and integrity.
If you want to be a public figure, you cannot walk the moral high ground when your own life is on shaky grounds.
That's why Chua has to pander to UMNO on all issues. Like a eunuch.

I presume you are an MCA stooge who voted Chua as your president.

My view is that Najib is buying time by setting up the RCI to probe the MACC procedures and not the actual cause of TBH's death.
He,Najib will decide when the GE will be held so he will time the setting up of RCI and RCI will take quite some time to finish the probe. So by the time the result of RCI's probe comes out,GE will be over and whatever the RCI's result will not affect the voting in GE13,even if it is not towards their(BN)favour and they can rule again for another term.

MCA IS BANKRUPT OF TALENTS AS THEY HAVE TO ELECT A PORN ARTIST AS PRESIDENT TO REPRESENT THE PARTY HOW SHORT SIGHTED ARE THEIR DELEGATES WITH OKT'S AID WHO IS ORIGINALLY FROM TEAM A WHO JUMPED INTO THE FRAY IN THE LAST MINUTES DEPRIVED MCA OF A CLEAN AND GOOD LEADER IN ONG TEE KEAT WHO WAS FROM TEAM B. SO USE YOUR VOTES WISELY COME GE 13 TO THROW OUT THAT MCA/BN/UMNO ETC AS THEY ARE ONLY GOOD IN CORRUPTIONS AND FIND WAYS TO PROMOTE CORRUPTIONS TO ENRICH THEMSELVES, ONLY, THEY DO NOT CARE FOR THE SUFFERINGS AND DEATHS OF THE RAKYATS UNDER THE CURRENT POLICE-STATE, WHERE THERE WERE TORTURES AND DEATHS BY POLICE AND MACC MURDERERS UNDER THE POLICE AND MACC CUSTODIES. THROW THEM ALL OUT AND TAKE THOSE MURDERERS TO JUSTICE UNDER A NEW CLEAN AND UNTAINTED FEDERAL GOVERNMENT UNDER PR.

This porn star will do anything to be a minister of the next cabinet. He will not give an answer to me as to why no Chinese is appointed to the rank of a senior minister or a DG of any ministry or why the percentage of the Malaysian Chinese is not reflected in the civil servants list when he is the chief of the Malaysian chinese. Or is he saying that the Chinese in this country is not good enough to be a civil servant or they are too rich, just like all the running dogs in MCA members, to be a civil servant.
Just you wait and see he is waiting to become a minister ( or his son) if and when BN becomes the next government. Just you wait !

When Najib said no RCI into the death of Teoh Beng Hock, MCA supported and said there was no such need to form RCI.

When Najib changed decision to set up RCI, MCA pula tried to claim credits...

Why both No.1 men in MCA and Gerakan have no backbone one?

LABIS: The MCA welcomes the setting up of the Commission of Inquiry to shed light on how Teoh Beng Hock died.

Party president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek said it was an appropriate time to have the Commission of Inquiry.

He said the party had on several occasions indicated and spoke to the Prime Minister about having a commission of inquiry to look into the death of Teoh.

“It shows that the Prime Minister is supportive,” he said after a dinner with some 80 non-governmental organisations here yesterday.

It's just tragic that this man lost the seat of President of MCA while a proven porn star took his place instead!

And recently, that porn star has the cheek and insanity to say there's no need for a Royal Commission of Enquiry despite a wholesale uproar of disapproval of the Coroner's verdict from the majority of the Malaysian public, especially from the Chinese Malaysians of whom the MCA purports to still represent! Where is CSL's sense of compassion and of justice for TBH?

Also, what type of people does the MCA have as delegates to vote in the above kind of leadership? So, is the MCA still a relevant force to be reckoned with or will they die a quick death at the next GE13?

Let us be merciful and end their misery with a quick coup de grĂ¢ce by voting them out of existence!

Teoh Beng Hock from Ong Tee Keat

The following was what Ong Tee Keat (OTK) wrote in comment to Din Merican's blog.

MACC must be held responsible

I am shocked by the coroner’s open verdict yesterday which rules out both suicide and homicide in the death of Teoh Beng Hock.

It’s time for the government to set up a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) into the custodial death of Teoh.
The loss of life, especially while in the custody of government enforcement officials, is always a serious matter of public concern.
There cannot be no answers for this particular case. It’s simply not acceptable that one can die in the MACC’s custody without knowing what had happened.
Teoh voluntarily stepped into the Selangor Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC)’s office to give a statement as a witness.
He failed to come out alive, while under MACC’s custody. His body was found sprawled on a service corridor in Plaza Masalam’s Level 5 on July 16, 2009.
No matter from which point of view or political divide you see the death, it is just unbelievable, unacceptable and illogical that no one knows what happened to Teoh in a place where security is relatively tight.
There was also ample evidence suggesting that Teoh was under tremendous physical and mental stress, having been subjected to long hours of interrogation.
Coroner Azmil Muntapha Abas has delivered his verdict based on a set terms of reference that could have limited the inquiry.
Nevertheless, we will just have to respect the chair and move on to the next level for a justifiable and more acceptable solution.
True, it is indeed unfortunate that Beng Hock’s tragic death has been politicised by certain quarters. The widely perceived lackadaisical probe by the authorities has in a way lent them credence in addition to dismaying the general public.
To all of us, life is precious. Therefore, irrespective of political affiliation, the people responsible for Teoh’s death, directly or indirectly, must be brought to justice.
To me, my view now is nothing new, but an insistence and reiteration of my support for the petition calling for the setting up of the RCI during the deceased’s wake at his parents’ house in July 2009.
I lent the support when I was the MCA president. I am maintaining my stance now in my capacity as the MP for Pandan. The logic is rather simple: Teoh walked into the MACC office alive but failed to emerge the same. That is a fact.
Therefore, the MACC must be held responsible and the government is obliged to sincerely bring to book the culprits responsible for the tragedy that has marred the image and integrity of the MACC.
