1Melayu 1Bumi: The End Game

Dr Mahathir Mohamad said that the '1Melayu, 1Bumi' movement proposed by the right wing non-governmental organisation Perkasa will be very bad for the country.

"I hope it doesn't happen. It's very bad for Malaysia."

"If we go ahead with this, there will be a two party system in politics. If one is Malay-dominated and the other is Chinese-dominated, it will be a disaster for this country."

I could not agree more with Dr Mahathir that the 1Melayu 1Bumi movement is a bad thing for Malaysia. It is a disaster for the image of this country. If the movement materialises and if the government does not outlaw it the way it did to Hindraf, the administration will lose its credibility for being selective in prosecuting organizations which can incite racial hatred.

But the hands of the administration are tied. How can the UMNO led government take stern action against the extreme segment of its own members? Almost 90 percent of Perkasa members are associated with the party directly or indirectly.

However, there is one thing that Dr Mahathir might be wrong. The ultimate results may not a coalition led by the Malay and other led by the Chinese. Both coalitions, Pakatan and Barisan, are led by Malay leaders.

Chinese in this country have long accepted the Malay leadership. However, they are merely choosing between a lesser evil between the two.

Hence, no amount of threats is going to make them change their mind like before. The political reality today is the core of our political contestation is between two sides of Malay leadership - one which wants to accommodate the other races as equals (ketuanan rakyat) and the other which wants to maintain status quo (ketuanan Melayu).

It is sad to note Perkasa, Utusan Malaysia and Dr Mahathir are not helping the UMNO led coalition by turning more aggressive and critical against the Chinese. Chinese voters are merely exercising their rights to vote in a constitutional democracy. The federal constitution gave them a right to choose and they are merely using their choice (whether rightly or wrongly).

Barisan Nasional, especially UMNO, must learn to respect their choice and constitutional rights. I believe PM Najib fully understands this situation and respects the wishes of the people. Unlike Mahathir, at least he did not use threat against the community.

PM Najib must be careful too. The fact that Pembela came out to demonstrate against the Christians three days before the Sarawak polling day speaks volume of their 'good' intention against the PM - despite knowing fully well that their action may cause worse electoral setback for the Barisan Nasional candidates contesting in urban areas.

Hence, it is very important for PM Najib to put a lash on the extreme right wing forces. Make no mistake that they are not helping him.

Mahathir should not be too worried about the Malay dominated coalition versus Chinese dominated coalition. The struggle should be between a pro-reform movement and an anti-reform movement. These movements cut across coalitions and political parties. PM Najib should pick the right movement to lead so that nothing unexpected or drastic would happen to his leadership of this country.

A polarisation this country should worry more is the class divide. Poor are getting poorer and rich are getting richer. Malaysians demand power is barely a third of some developed countries. Job opportunities are becoming narrower and scarce.

Socio-economic polarisation is something bigger than the political race divide. Malaysians of all races are becoming more mature politically especially urban folks. They are not going to buy the lame Malay unity proposal peddled by Utusan Malaysia.

Malaysians are being burdened with higher cost of living, limited job opportunities, low demand power, high property prices, low wages, crime, corruption and other teething problems. These issues and problems must be solved before any coalition can lay a claim of uninterrupted power.

Politicians ignore these socio-economic vital signs at their own peril. PM Najib must do something against these extreme right wing forces. He must do it now and do it fast. Otherwise, their actions will consume his premiership in the next few years.

Regardless of what the grand son of the untouchable pariah shenanigan Mahathir is advocating against. He started it when he was the P.M., just look at the civil services,
With the 94% of the servants are Malays when the country's population is only 65%, what happen to the rest of the 35% non muslim population ? This is not taking into account the millions of red I/C card holders, who are Malaysian born non Malays. Was that not his 1 Malaysia , 1 Bumi policy ? What a hypocrite this shenanigan Mahathir is now ? Another indication of his transformation as a mixed blood Mama into Chinese for his grand children ! Lets pray that this pollution will not happen and keep the toxic blood line in the sewage tank where it rightfully belongs.

The day will come when Malaysia:
1) done with the dismiss of politicians like Ali Ibrahim,Bung Mohktar,NoH Omar,Hishamuddin,Chua Soi Lek and Samy Vellu n also Mohd Taib,Khir Toyo.
2) done with the removal of co like Perimekar who pocketed RM500 million of our money just acting as middle-man for Defence Ministry purchase of submarines and caused the life of a mongolian lady which until today the case is still not solved and created a lot of embarrassment to our country.
3) done with the removal of cronies who sits in privatised GLC who draws hefty remuneration(to the tune of RM5 mil annually)and yet made losses and got the cheek to squeeze the people to pay more for the servise(which in the first instance is the social responsibity of the govt).
4) done with the removal of those 'kangaroo' judges who sold their conscience and soul to the dog.
5) done with the removal of those moronic high-office public servants who do not lead by example.
The list I can go on,but bcos of time constraint,I have to end here.
God(who ever he/she may be)save Malaysia.

It looks like Najib is turning to be a lame-duck PM. Abdul Taib Mahmud is supreme in Sarawak and Najib can’t shake him. His deputy Muhyiddin Yassin is 1Melayu first and Utusan can just spew racist utterances daily without any fear of repercussion. 1Malaysia, my foot, its all talk and talk only PM.
Seems that Umno has a large say in what Utusan publishes. But it does look increasingly obvious that the PM is not always able to control his soldiers, including his deputy. One of the reasons he just “dudok diam diam” on all these racialistic huha by his men is he fears he will lose the support of the ultra-Malays, many of whom are staunch supporters of Umno.
And now he introduced the 1Malaysia email, only to quickly claim that it is a private venture. The educated can see through this – we know we’re going to pay for it, we’re just not sure how.

Lets work towards the day when the ethnic minorities indians, chinese, eurasians, ibans,
kadasans and others are given opportunities to be employed in civil service and public corps, GLCs,petronas, mas, army, polis embassies -top,middle,lower positions.
After all the non malays built the country from nothing with blood, sweat and tears and everyone is an immigrant to Malaya except Orang Asli-true owners of the land.
If any extremist malay tell you to go back china or india ,your reply should be to tell him /her to go back to Indonesia!.
Malaysia belong to all not just a select group of politicians & their families.

What the Chinese voted are for a chinese party and its coalition they like against other Chinese parties of BN which they dont like.

So, what is wrong with that? These Chinese also voted for the Malay parties they like against other Malay BN parties they dont like.

It is not voting for the chinese against the malay as what the pro BN parties claimed. IT IS ALL ABOUT VOTING FOR A HOPE WITH PAKATAN AGAINST THE HOPELESS BN.

the Chinese now have a choice on which Bumiputra should lead them. The MCA together with UMNO since independence had shown that they will only cause more non bumis to leave the country because they do not see that they have a future here. They cannot see any change in the UMNO/MCA collaboration. The Chinese will eventually lose everything; their economic prowess, their language, & etc. It is only a matter of time. They have not lost everything yet but slowly and surely they will. Can you blame them who are also human beings for trying the alternative as whether they like it or not they will lose everything eventually, so why not give the alternative a try. What else have they to lose. To lose everything now or few more years down the road; what difference does it make.

With daily attack on his 1 Malaysia Najib might as well be honest enough to admit that his real intension is 1 Malaysia, 1 Bumi and may be the attack might cease. He might be better off to tell the truth and shame the devil (himself).

Dear Sir, I have been following you blog quite closely and find that whatever you write is very close to what's on the mind of common people. I always have disagreement with my fellow Mca friends whenever we have teh tarik sessions and I sometimes find that the real issue here is in giving too much power t the ruling elites. As they say, absolute power corrupts absolutely and blame can't be placed to the one who is giving nor the ones who are taking. Wolves and always there to fleece the lambs. Humans are naturally greedy. It is the people who voted and gave them power to do so are those at fault.

Whatever my friends say about opposition is partly true. They are affraid of islamic state and that opposition is not just interested to bash Their enemy than to help improve our situation. Besides that, another reason they always use to deter us from voting opposition is reminding us of may 13 riot which I find very insulting.

Whatever it is, it is our obligation to make this country a better place. The problem with us is that on one side, we have a strong force which has grown arrogant and not hessitate to use all means to stay in power. On the other side, we have a weak party which has difficulty in attracting tallented people and therefore have no other ways to deny the rulling elites than to slander. We need to make the opposition stronger so that there will be check and balance. Ultimately, it should be the voted representatives that are afraid of their voters and not the other way round.

If the email service is a privately funded prefect why then is the P.M. trying to promote it ? Has he got an interest in it in doing so ?

How many editors from other media had been removed because they spoke their minds? Utusan Malaysia editors - none!
