The fear of Islamization cost DAP strongmen their parliamentary seats in 1999. Today, the same ghost is back haunting the coalition but at a wrong time!
It is important for Pas to understand, comprehend and adapt their political struggle with the current political climate worldwide especially in the Muslim world. Jasmine revolution in the Middle East and Africa did happen not because there wasn't enough Islamic/Hudud laws implemented but partly due to a desire of their people, especially the youths, to enjoy more freedom and personal liberty.
I had met a group of Iranian students and young activists in Portugal in 2009, almost six months before the Iranian uprising. Like any other youths, they had wanted more freedom to enjoy their fashion, music, entertainment and lifestyle. Unfortunately, restrictions from the regime had pushed most of the youth activities underground.
The revolt and uprising in the Middle East was motivated by their people's desire for freedom, good governance, access to opportunities and democracy.
There is a fear that some Muslim leaders in this country do not understand what the youths really wanted. By being too pushy, history is bound to repeat itself.
It is not the time for leaders to quarrel over Hudud. It would have been more productive for politicians to spend hours discussion ways and solutions to ensure our Malaysian economy does not slip into recession, create more jobs for the people, control rising inflation and cost of living, curbing corruption, eradicating racism, stop the abuse of migrants for vote and other unproductive and unnecessary bickering among politicians.
In the next elections, we have a chance to pick those who are interested to serve and govern well and kick out the Mullah wannabees, race champions, crooked politicians and those wasting too much time on race and religion but little else on governance and policy making.

It sadden me to see the stupidity of the PR leaders, jumping mad over a non issue.Hudud law cannot be implemented as it contradicts the federal constitution.
The issue is intentionally brought up by BN to disrupt the PR alliance, and yet the PR leaders fall for the trap, which has been so successfully used by BN for a number of times.
If the PR leaders cannot even see through this trick of BN, how are they going to be the next government.
sad, sad, sad.bcoz BN is going to continue running this country to the ground.
im a muslim youth, i want the hudud laws. a true muslim would not mind the hudud laws, plz do not talk as if u r a muslim youth because, frankly, u r not
HOW FORWARD DO U WANT FROM MALAYSIA???
Any archaic laws will never fit properly into the today's world where people want freedom and liberty to live! Yes, today PAS may be able to keep the Hudud Law appropriately but what about future leaders, where their interpretation of Islam becomes extreme - ie Taliban? Then, there would be no turning back!

Why is there any need for a hate speech
When supposed to be civilised unlike leech
Better to cool off with breeze by the beach
Than to bark and bite like an angry bitch?

The problems with these politicians is that once in a while they have to ruff some feathers.Be it about the lottery, alchohol or hudud.Don't these politicians from PAS even have an iota of peanut brains that the word 'hudud' is haram to all Malaysians. Why do they have to keep bringing this issue up once in a while. Can't they leave this issue to pasture, once and for all.
Don't these people have nothing better to do.There are lots of problems in the country that needs to be solve.Instead they are harping on sentitive issues that are not going to help them score brownie points with the voters.Sometimes it makes one wonder whether these idiots have any use of the brains that god gave to them.
The GE is just around the corner, and instead of getting things ready these husbands and wives are fighting over trivial matters. These people are never going to learn, and can never wrest power from the corrupted Umno GOM.To do so is like asking a childish, clownish grownup to challenge an orang utan.
These shameless guys in MCA still think that they are still relevant esp to their own community despite being thrashed since 0308. Either they are ignorant or completely out of touch with their own community. They are still trying like "a dead chicken thrashing the rice bowl cover". Hey, all you self-claim political bums out there "be real man" before you are completely wiped out come GE13 by your very own community.
So Asyraf Halim, we can expect you to be first in line to cast the first stone?
I have no problems with Hudud being law, I'm worried about the implementation. Everyone says it's a way of preventing crime, the way I see it, it's a way of escaping punishment. If a man rapes, and there is no 4 witnesses, he can escape punishment? and if the girl who is the victim and unmarried becomes pregnant, will she be stoned for adultery? If someone spreads fitnah by sms, without saying a word, or there are no witnesses who heard him spreading fitnah.. how will he be punished according to hudud?
Don't say that women should take care of themselves and cover their aurat. We have cases where grandfathers, fathers and brothers raping their granddaughters, daughters and sisters. No 4 witnesses, so they can escape punishment?
If hudud is to be implemented, for the muslims only, fine carry on. We'll see the how the rate of conversion to Islam is affected and we'll see the fate of the muslims in this country in 10 years.
Can you tell me where I can find/learn the correct way of implementing hudud laws? How old are you Asyraf? were you old enough when this matter was discussed during Tun Mahathir's time?
Why can,t the politicians speak & think a little ;ike our past PM the late Tunku who works for the people of this country and not his own self interests? Hello PAS, DAP PKR etc please leave religion aside, unite in one democratic voice and change Malaysia for the better once and for ALL races!!!!
