Zainal Kling: A Spin Doctor Gone Awry

National Professor's Council member Zainal Kling council said that the movement, which included the Communist Party of Malaya (CPM), are “traitors” as they had allegedly wanted to form a republic and to unseat Malay rulers.

He alleged that these communists' goal was not to liberate Malaya from British rule, which had recognised the role of the Malay rulers, but to establish a communist country. He added that “all Malay nationalists” had also “joined forces, cooperated and abetted with communist fighters” to establish a republic.

"It is because of this that we cannot accept their struggle as (the communists) wanted to wrest power in a manner which was not legitimate,” he said.

Zainal's allegations are serious and they must be scrutinized to avoid unscrupulous distortion of our nation's history. As an ardent student of history, I hope Zainal's allegations were not driven by any political or personal interest.

He had made some serious allegations:
  1.  Malaysia was never colonised, only Malacca, Penang and Singapore.
  2. British recognized the role of Malay rulers
  3. All Malay nationalists had joined forces, cooperated and abetted with communist fighters to establish a republic
Zainal's allegations may put the Malay rulers in an embarrassing position. First, why were the British allowed almost total control over the economy and raw materials of the nation if this country was never colonised?

In fact, the post-colonial New Economic Policy was introduced to address the economic imbalances caused by the British colonial rule. One of its objectives was to eradicate identification of economic function to race.

If the Malay states were never colonised, then the Malay rulers should be held accountable and answerable for the socio-economic neglect and discrimination of the Malay community. Why make Chinese the bogeymen of Malay's economic distress?

If Zainal is right, the British were the good guys because they recognised and supported the Malay rulers' supremacy. Umno, which was established by a number of Malay nationalists, must be the bad guys because "they had collaborated with communist fighters to establish a republic".

Malay nationalists opposition to the Malayan Union was another testimony of their struggle against the colonial power and to defend the special position of their community.

If Zainal's allegations were driven by his desire to help Umno nail Mat Sabu, he has opened up another controversy for the party. Worse, his statement was made in Putrajaya signalled his political intention.

If Zainal is right, we should only celebrate Independence Day in Malacca and Penang. We should pull out our membership from the Commonwealth and disband Umno.

If not, Zainal's professorship must be reassessed to ensure that he fits the intellectual requirement of the title.
It is time for the Barisan government to employ and engage the right people.

It is the present government and it has all necessary resources to hire the best and to provide the best governance to the people. The lost of popularity of the Prime Minister and his administration is self inflicted.

Why spend millions and get pseudo intellectuals who feed on peanuts?

What had happened to some PhD holders in the establishment? One is trying to push the blame of Bersih 2.0's mismanagement to the police and this one has unwittingly turning Malay nationalists into traitors.

Interlectuals, educationists, professors, historians and civil servants or whatever names or titles we want to give them, should just stick to whatever work that they are paid to do.The less they open their mouths the less controversies they created. They should leave politics to the politicians.

If they want to get involved in politics, they should resign from their work and be full time politicians. In other words they should put their money where their mouth is.Instead of them trying to out talk each other, wouldn't it be better for them to lecture their bosses that corruption is bad, very bad for the people and the country.

Wouldn't it be better for them to tell PM Najib, that they are a better choice than many of the back door ministers he has in his cabinet.Wouldn't it be better if they told Najib that they are a better choice that the Minister of Misinformation, who always shot himself in the foot.In other words why don't they tell Najib to fire the whole cabinet and appoint them instead, through the back door too.

Khoo, the Barisan government can never hire any right person for the right job.It can only hire the right person for the wrong job.It doesn't matter what type of jobs. All top civil positions must be held by Malays, and it is not only any smart Malays. It must be an Umno crony Malay, and he doesn't have to be smart.

And for cabinet posts half of the ministers are household garbage thrown out by the people. And those Chinese ministers are appointed for window dressing showpieces only.So how can the country funtion with these morons at the helm. These people are only good at one thing only. And that is robbing all Malaysians high and dry.

You overlooked to mention that NEP is now appropriately known as Never Enough Policy or according to Najib it is now known as NED, Never Enough Money. How appropriate !
Also why is it that when a Chinese married a Malay in the earlier years their descendants are known as Nonya Papa or when a Portugalese married a Malay their descendants are known as Malacca Portugalese. Also when a Dutch married a Malay the descendants are known as Malacca Dutch ?
I also know of a prominent Indian his mother is a Chinese and he is also married to a Chinese lady and yet his Children are recognized as Indians and not as Chinese.
By the same token the grand son of the untouchable pariah, the shenanigan Mahathir is recognized as a Malay on the strength that his grand mother and mother were Malays. Is it because to be known as a Malay he is then permitted to rob the country in the name of a Malay ?
Is that why in his last interview with BBC he was asked if he was a Malay or an Indian and why was the question ever asked ?

Professor Zainal Kling should not be the only one to be singled out. The other professors kangkung/kopi o/jaguh kampung reported by Bernama were Prof Dr Raduan Che Rose, Prof Datuk Dr Ramlah Adam, Prof Dr Ibrahim Komoo, Prof Mohd Sahar Yahya, Prof Dr Zakaria Kasa and Prof Dr Abdul Latiff Abu Bakar. They were all there with the Kling fella.

Dear Najib manakau,
Now days you can choose either to follow your mother's race or father's race, up to you. Also it depends on your practise, custom and beliefs, my parents might be indian,I may look like indian but if I follow the race and beliefs of a chinese then I'm not an indian. Mahathir is malay, his grandfather is indian, but Mahathir is malay.
