Rafizi Ramli's Prosecution is a National Embarrassment

The decision to charge PKR leader Rafizi Ramli for disclosing four financial accounts related to the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) and its chairperson Mohd Salleh Ismail is putting the entire value system of the nation at test.

He claimed trial to the charge, under Section 97 of the Banking and Financial Institutions Act (Bafia), of having disclosed the financial accounts held by Public Bank to two reporters, one of them Erle Martin Carvalhoe of Star.

Bank Negara started investigations after Mohd Salleh’s police report against Rafizi for 21 alleged breaches of private and confidential banking details that are protected under Part XIII of Bafia on secrecy and information.

Mohamad Salleh himself has been charged with two counts of criminal breach of trust (CBT) and two alleged offences under the Companies Act 1965 involving a total of RM49.7 million, related to the purchase of two luxury condominium units.

What kind of message does Bank Negara intend to send to the people? Rafizi had taken great risk to disclose crucial and incriminating financial information related to criminal breach of trust.

The Rafizi expose has helped to safe the country from another attempt to plunder public funds for self enrichment. It is without a doubt that Rafizi could have been fed the information by an insider. Nevertheless, the last thing the authority should do it to charge him breaches of private and confidential banking details.

National Feedlot Corporation was a beneficiary of public grant. As a recipient of RM250 million of low interest loan, the NFC should be subjected to the strictest scrutiny. A lack of check-and-balance mechanism had resulted in billions being wasted or siphoned off each year. The fact that the government did not act on the AG's warning earlier is a prime example of poor governance. It merely strengthens the need for responsible whistleblowers like Rafizi Ramli.

The NFC scandal had tainted UMNO Women Chief Sharizat Jalil and prompted her removal from the cabinet. But the treatment she received from the UMNO led government is starkly different from the treatment received by the whistleblower Rafizi. He was prosecuted mainly because of his political affiliation.

The federal government must not underestimate the Malaysians and their ability to separate the wrongs and the rights.

Rafizi's prosecution is going have a bigger impact than the defections of two Sabah BN leaders on voters.

It is time for the federal government to start waking up to its many weaknesses and abuses of power. Top officials in Bank Negara should do a deep soul searching too. Professionalism must be practiced within a good value system.

Rafizi...a hero who doesn't use brains said...

"Laws are laws & rules are rules".

These are things we CANNOT do anything about. No doubt RAFIZI RAMLI took great effort, burden & risk to expose the NFC saga but having all said, RAFIZI RAMLI did indeed commit criminal breach of trust (CBT) by disclosing bank accounts of which are clearly "WRONG" in the context of 'Law & Order'.

Perhaps he should take a 'smarter' approach in exposing this saga rather than acting as if he is Waltz Disney's PETER PAN of whom think this world have no whatsoever law & order. I'm amazed all those brains & political scientists behind Pakatan Rakyat couldn't assist RAFIZI to come up with a smarter approach. This poor dude could be destined for PENJARA & his political career can be considered 'TAMAT'.

As a responsible adult, I reckon RAFIZI to shoulder the charges like man. His political career might be finished due to his national heroic act against BN but someone gotta be sacrificed for a better tomorrow, correct??? Well, I don't see any BIG PROBLEM for Pakatan Rakyat even if RAFIZI is found guilty. After all, it's just 1 'NOT SO SMART' individual of whom didn't bother to use BRAINS to attack its' foes. Such a person is better to be omitted from Pakatan Rakyat as I don't see him having the intelligence to survive long in the dirty world of politics.

"Thanks RAFIZI for all your sacrifices but too bad you're lack of a smart political brain"

*sigh*

"Sigh"...is right. Honest and good people like him should always obey the law even if the law is an ass! I There was a "negro" woman sitting in the front of a bus in the deep south of the USA. The name is not Rafizi but Roza Parks. The law said she should go sit among her "kind." She did not and we know what happened! So Rafizi could be the Roza Parks for us. Let "sigh" stay "smart" and obey the law!

BN have just make a matyr of Rafizi by charging him court.

Not to worry Rafizi, look at LGE who had to go jail before and today he is the CM of Penang.

We support you all the way with the scandals that have been exposed.

That is how the scumbags and parasites have stayed in power for so long. They are using this as an example to intimidate all those who plan to expose their scandals. The only way out of all these unjust and unfair persecutions is to have the morons from Umno voted out in the coming GE and better still have them indicted for the abuses of the law. This is Malaysia the boleh land !

RAFIZI RAMLI is a:

A) A man dubbed a NATIONAL HERO with 'BALLS OF STEEL' to expose thew wrong doings of BN.

B) A 'NO BRAINER' politician who used a stupid approach to expose the wrong doings of his foes.

C) A 'FED UP' politician who want QUIT politics thus by revealing the TRUMP CARD before he wave 'sayonara'.

D) A STUBBORN politician who went against the advice of his political advisors whom tried hard to convince Rafizi to take a safer approach of revelation of NFC.

YOUR ANSWER: ???

MY ANSWER: Rafizi is one stupid politician who thinks he have "Balls of Steel" but only to end up being perceived as a DUMB HERO WITH BRAINS OF PIGS.

I bet many PKR members are now laughing loudly as 1 of them would stand a good chance of replacing RAFIZI come the next G.E.

Don't know to say STUPID or BERANI. Maybe both would be ideal.

*SIGH*

A shallow headed politician without much intelligence is now destined for early political retirement.

The war MUST be fought but at least adopt a 'smarter' approach la. Simply going all out with guns blazing but WITHOUT wearing a bulletproof jacket will only get you killed early, my dear RAFIZI RAMLI.

You certainly lack the understanding of "ART OF WAR" of which the CHINESE are brilliant at.

From now on, ,all whistleblowers must consider using a smaller whistle and blow softly lest the authority hears the "beep"!

"National Embarassment", they probably don't know what is that, let alone feel bad about it.
